Dr. Anupam Sibal

Dr. Anupam Sibal joined Apollo Hospital, New Delhi as a Senior Consultant Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist in 1997.
In 2003, Dr. Sibal was elevated to the position of Medical Director of Apollo Hospital, Delhi. Dr Sibal was appointed as Group Medical Director of the Apollo Hospitals Group in 2005. Dr. Sibal helped achieve the First International Accreditation of a hospital in India by Joint Commission International (JCI), USA in June 2005. Seven Apollo Hospitals are now JCI accredited. Dr. Anupam Sibal has been serving as a Joint Commission International Physician Surveyor since January 2008. Dr. Sibal was appointed as Adjunct Professor of Paediatrics, School of Medicine, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia in June 2009. In October 2009, he was appointed as the member of the Institute Body of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, (PGIMER) Chandigarh. PGIMER has been ranked consistently in the top 3 public academic health institutes in India
 

In 1998, Dr. Sibal helped set up the first successful liver transplant program in India. In the last 2 years this unit has performed 210 liver transplants with 90% success. He is on the Editorial Board of 3 Journals and has 69 publications. He is on the Executive Board of the International Pediatric Transplant Association, The Asian Pan Pacific Association of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the Commonwealth Association of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and has lectured extensively in India and abroad.



 

Dr. A.K. Tandon

Dr. A.K. Tandon graduated in 1973 and joined Apollo Hospital, New Delhi in 2005. He managed the Apollo Clinic situated at the Supreme Court of India. In 2006, he started working as consultant family physician at Apollo Hospitals, Noida.
In 2006, at the request of the government of Afghanistan, Dr. Tandon was deputed by Apollo Hospitals to look after King Zaheer Shah - the Father of the Nation of Afghanistan at Kabul through the Government of India. On his return in 2007, he started working for Apollo Group and was associated with Dr. Anupam Sibal, Group Medical Director, to manage Apollo Chest Pain Clinics at Delhi and in the NCR region.
 

Since 2008 his focus has been clinical excellence and quality in medical services across the Apollo Group Hospitals. He has been responsible for the development, implementation and execution of a number of projects like ACE@25, Apollo Data Point, ACE Forum, Hand book for Director Medical Services, Ready Reckoner DMS Handbook, Consultant Database, Best practices projects. All these are available at the Apollo Light House platform. He has created documentation on standardization of medical services, academic and research policies, appraisal of medical heads and various other initiatives under clinician engagement. He organized the first successful audit of validation of ACE @25 data across 25 group locations through Apollo Clinical Audit Team - ACAT. ACE@25 is a web based balanced score card focusing on providing evidence based quality care and a safe environment to patients and strengthening the functional efficiency of our hospitals. It was launched at six locations in October 2008 and has been successfully implemented at twenty Group Hospital locations w.e.f. April 2009.
Dr. Tandon has also contributed significantly in the recruitment of consultants at the Apollo Kota and Apollo Bhubaneswar hospitals.



 

Dr. KK Aggarwal

Padmashri awardee Dr. K K Aggarwal is a well-known cardiologist and senior physician. Presently, Dr. Aggarwal is the Senior Consultant Physician, Head Cardiology and Dean of the Board of Medical Education Moolchand Medcity, New Delhi, India. Dr. Aggarwal is the Founder, Trustee and President of Heart Care Foundation of India. He has served Indian Medical Association as the Honorary Finance Secretary for the year 2007-2008 and also remained the Chairman of IMA Academy of Medical Specialities and Director of IMA AKN Sinha Institute. He's a gold medalist in MBBS and MD from MGIMS Wardha, (Nagpur University). 

He's a pioneer in introducing Clot Dissolving Streptokinase Therapy in India along with Dr. K L Chopra in 1984. He's also known for organizing the 'Perfect Health Mela' every year since 1993. He's a Member, Editorial Board of Echocardiography, Journal of Cardiovascular Ultrasound and Allied Techniques (USA) since 1990. A pioneer in medical journalism with the publication of 30 journals and newspapers catering to the doctors. He's the CMD, Publisher and Group Editor-in-Chief of IJCP (Indian Journal of Clinical Pactice). He's also known as a writer, columnist and expert for newspapers and TV shows. He has handled a Weekly TV show 'Hello India' on Lok Sabha TV as as Anchor. Dr. Aggarwal has received many prestigious awards, including Dr. B C Roy National Award from the 12th President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil for his unique contributions in the health sector.

 


 

Dr. Arun Prasad 

Dr Arun Prasad had his higher surgical training in England. After qualifying for his FRCS in 1990, he was working in the prestigious Charing Cross Medical School, London and associated Hospitals, before returning to India. He graduated from Armed Forces Medical College, Poona in 1983 at the age of 21 years and subsequently got trained in Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College and associated Teaching Hospitals (LNJP & GB Pant Hospitals), New Delhi. 

He was part of the team that did the first Laparoscopic Gall Bladder operation in that hospital and since has been a pioneer in Laparoscopic, Thoracoscopic & Bariatric Surgery. Currently Senior Surgeon at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi since 1996 ( 1st USA - JCI accredited hospital in India ).

Achievements in Laparoscopic & Minimal Access Surgery –

  • He was one of the earliest surgeons in the World doing Laparoscopic Surgery for Gall Bladder.

  • He devised his own technique for Laparoscopic Hernia repair that is recognised over the world in eminent medical journals.

  • He has done the world’s first Laparoscopic operation of Gall Bladder fistula with the large intestine which too is recognised over the world in eminent medical journals.

  • He has done the world’s first Thoracoscopic removal of Hydatid cyst of the lungs.

  • He has been doing other complex and advanced laparoscopic operations for various abdominal and chest problems.

  • He has conducted one of the first series in the world in 1994, showing the feasibility and safety of doing Laparoscopic gall bladder surgery and sending home on the same day.

  • Before his return to India, he was one of the very few Indians who have had the honour to be a tutor in Laparoscopic Surgery in the courses conducted at The Royal College of Surgeons, London. Presently he is a tutor in Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons of UK and also an examiner for MRCS conducted by the Royal College.

  • He is also a Teacher for the Post Graduate Surgery - DNB by Govt of India and in Laparoscopic Surgery at - Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education, Mumbai and Delhi.

  • One of the few surgeons doing ETS for Hyperhidrosis

  • Laproscopic Gastric bypass and Laparoscopic Gastric banding for Morbid Obesity

After being appointed Senior Consultant at the age of 31 years, at present he is one of the world’s youngest surgeons with an experience of over 5000 laparoscopic operations. (Surgical experience of 23 years and Laparoscopic experience for 18 years)

 


 

Dr. V Balasubramanyam

Dr. V.Balasubramanyam is a Multimedia Educationist and presently a domain consultant - Medical E learning for the IT industry. He is the President – Bangalore Chapter of the Indian Association of Medical Informatics.

He is also a noted medical educationist and was the head of the Department of Anatomy, St. John’s Medical College for eight years. He is presently a professor in the same department.  

 

He was the Director Medical E Learning, MEdRC Edutech, Hyderebad and this project was recognized by the medical council of India as an excellent complimentary teaching system. This pioneering work involved developing E learning software for the entire MBBS curriculum. His focus of research has been computers in medical education and is presently a consultant to several medical and health care IT companies. He has conducted seven national level workshops on this subject and established a multimedia computer laboratory at the department of anatomy, St.John’s Medical College – equipped with the latest computer network for medical education. He was awarded the Sir Sriram Memorial Award by NAMS, India for outstanding work in adopting modern technology in Medical Education for the year 1997-98.

Dr. Balasubramanyam is also the author of software in gross anatomy entitled: Windows Anatomica - upper limb in CD format – May 2003, Version 1.0. He has also authored 63 research papers and over 200 conference presentations in the field of computers in medical education, gross anatomy, museum techniques and cross sectional anatomy – in reputed peer reviewed journals. Additionally, Dr. Balasubramanyam is the ex-editor of Anatomica Karnataka – Official Journal of Karnataka chapter of Anatomists 1999 – 2004.  He is an active member of the medical education cell at St. John’s and has contributed to several medical education technology workshops. 

Dr. Balasubramanyam has Memberships with numerous associations like the Anatomical Society of India, Medical Computer Society of India, Indian Association of Bioethics etc. as well as being on the national advisory board, Journal of anatomical Society of India and the PhD review committee, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

 

 


 

Dr. Vikas Kohli

Dr. Vikas Kohli MD FAAP FACC, is a Foetal, Neonatal & Paediatric Cardiologist - Senior Consultant with Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. He graduated in with 5 gold medals from the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1986. He subsequently finished his Pediatric training from PGIMER (Chandigarh).  He completed his Pediatric Residency (USA) from the Montefiore Medical Center, New York and trained in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Miami.  He subsequently practiced Pediatric Cardiology in Florida, USA. He has been Director of Pediatric Cardiology at RTIICS, Kolkata; he also has been In charge of Non-Invasive Lab, Sir Ganga ram Hospital.  

 

He has been awarded Best Research in Pediatrics Award at the National Indian Academy of Pediatrics Conference 1991 & at the University of Miami Best Research Award in 1996. He has also been awarded the American Heart Association/Genentech Award 1996; The American College of Cardiology – Affiliate in Training Award 1997.  In addition, he has received the award for Excellence in Medical record documentation by the Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida.

He has performed several unique interventional procedures including Flow Restrictor Implantation in Pulmonary Artery for the first time in India; performed a balloon angioplasty in a 1.3 Kg child and stent implantation in a 1.8 kg child. His main area of interest is in neonatal Interventions; his current area of interest is Fetal Cardiology (Fetal Echocardiography) and improving neonatal cardiac survivals in developing countries. He has more than 50 publications. He has written more than 5 chapters. He is currently on the Board of Editors for 3 Journals and reviewer for 5 Journals.
